Dear Cleveland

This is to all my fellow Cleveland fans concerning Lebron James,

I am absolutely sick of the way Cleveland is prostrating itself in front of Lebron James to get him to stay. Akron is holding Lebron James Appreciation day with the mayor and other elected officials. Every appearance Lebron makes he is mobbed by people begging him to stay.

We are better than that. Cleveland fans are strong people. We put up with a lot from our collective sports teams and yet we still support them. We have treated Lebron James like the King he claims to be starting when he was in high school. Then he was drafted, and we all bought his jersey and shoes and sold out the arena. The Cavaliers ownership essentially gave him control of the franchise. He was consulted on personnel decisions. He didn't like the first coach, so they fired him and brought in a yes man. He has now been fired for butting heads with Lebron. They got him everything he wanted, including Shaq and other good players to play with.

Has this payed off? Well yes. The Cavs went from being a bad team to one of the best. However, this year, Lebron gave up in the playoffs. He did not live up to his "King" nickname. Even worse, he didn't take any responsibilty. Other sportswriters have commented that Kobe and Jordan always did, and that winning was their top priority. All Lebron cares about is getting attention and money.

Now I want Lebron to resign with Cleveland. He is a great player and could still bring us a championship. But I don't want to see us bow before him, only to inflate his ego even more, especially after what he did in the playoffs. The fans, the franchise, and the city have been great to him, more than most cities and franchises. Our treatment of him alone over the past 7 years should be reason enough to stay, not to mention the extra 30 mil he will make. If he leaves, than he is showing his true colors. After all we have done for him, he should stay, and I don't want to see the city bow down just so the slap in the face that him leaving will be is that much greater.
